Tom Carroll: "How Two Deaths Led Me to Life"

Tom Carroll, President & CEO of Diversified Insurance, spoke to at the CBMC Baltimore Metro North breakfast at Kelly Benefits headquarters on October 16, 2024. Tom shared his personal story and faith journey.

Tom Carroll is a seasoned executive with over three decades of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career at Diversified Insurance (DII) as an insurance producer in training, where his excellence in both classwork and sales earned him top honors. Over the course of 18 years, Tom built a substantial portfolio of commercial business by focusing on comprehensive coverage analysis, a method that has consistently addressed the needs of his clients. In 2006, he was appointed president of Diversified Insurance and successfully led the company until his promotion to President and CEO in 2017. Under his leadership, the agency grew to over $100 million in premium, making DII one of the largest agencies in its market, with nearly 100 employees.

Tom’s success extends beyond his professional life. He has served as both president and a member of the Board of Governors for the Baltimore Country Club, and has frequently spoken at insurance industry events. He has also represented Loyola College’s Sellinger School of Business, contributing to recruitment efforts and sharing his insights as a blogger for the EMBA program. Tom is passionate about personal development, guided by the philosophy that life is a learning journey and that there is no greater crime than undeveloped potential. He and his wife, Dana, whom he married in 1990, have two children, Gabrielle and Thomas. An avid reader and collector of books, Tom also enjoys golf and maintains a disciplined exercise regimen alongside Dana.
