CBMC Breakfast with Harry Swayne
An important part of CBMC’s mission is reaching business and professional men with the message of the Gospel. We do this by praying for men in our sphere of influence, and then inviting them to outreach events with a Christian speaker.
At a CBMC breakfast on April 21st at Kelly Benefits, three time Super Bowl Champion and HR Professional, Harry Swayne, shared valuable business insights and his faith journey. Several CBMC Northern Baltimore County teams joined together to invite their colleagues and friends to this event. A dozen men indicated that they recommitted themselves to Christ and several more asked for more information on the speaker’s message.
Harry’s talk emphasized having a “whole life” perspective that looks beyond work and career for true success. Despite having received numerous football honors and Super Bowl championships, he came to see that life was much more than career success or football player parties. Harry surrendered his life to Jesus in a stadium tunnel before going into a game. He said that “God takes the strongest of men, penetrates the depths their heart to show them how He sees them, and then opens His arms wide with love.”
Growing up without a father in childhood had left Harry with a void in his life. The influence by other Christian football players and his mother’s family values helped him see his need for God’s forgiveness. He turned from living for himself and began taking personal responsibility for his life and growing his relationship with God. In doing so, he found that his new heavenly Father filled the void in his life completely.
In 2008, Harry returned to the Baltimore Ravens as the Director of Employee (Player) Engagement, working closely with GM Ozzie Newsome. Harry’s programs greatly influenced the culture of the team and the organization. As a HR professional, Harry works to improve employee performance while championing people. Now his desire is to display Godly character that honors his heavenly Father in every engagement.
