Today’s Reality – Men are failing

Men continue to disengage at an alarming rate and are not stepping up to be the men that God designed them to be. This is causing a massive crack in the foundation of our society. Men in America are increasingly struggling are in many areas of life, including education, workforce participation, career paths, and fatherhood. Single men are more lonley and isolated than women from meaningful relationships. Nearly one in five Americans report having no close social connections, and young men are faring worse than most: More than one in four (28 percent) men under the age of 30 reported having no close social connections.

Signs of Men in Distress

Today’s Men are in crisis:

  • In 2025, 2 women will graduate from college for 1 man.
  • Men are twice as likely to abuse drugs and alcohol.
  • 36% of children do not live with their fathers and 43% of men aged 18 - 34 are still living at home.
  • 51% of young adult men are “not looking for a relationship”, and only 50% of men are married.
  • Over 90% of all inmates are men.
  • Men account for over 79% of all suicides.
  • As many as 90% of the boys who are being raised in church will abandon it by their 20th birthday. Many may never return (unless we reach them in the marketplace!)
  • Only 25% of church volunteers are men.
  • Less than 6% of the U.S. has a biblical worldview.
  • Only about 10% of churches have a men’s ministry.

Men in the marketplace are failing and the world’s response is to pile shame on them for not measuring up at work, home, and in their communities. What we know is that the gospel message is real and the only antidote to this epidemic among men. Men need Jesus—this is our WHYCBMC is focused on meeting these challenges by equipping Christian men with a solid foundation in gospel of Jesus Christ and skills to develop relational connections with those who have not yet seen their need for Jesus—This is our HOW.

Most Christian business and professional men have a hard time finding meaningful connections with like-minded men who will encourage them personally, professionally, and spiritually.
